Dr. Srijana Pandey is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Community Medicine, KIST Medical College Teaching Hospital. Regarding her educational qualification, she has done PhD in Sociology (Sociology in health), Master in Sociology and Master in Science (Botany) from Tribhuwan University, Nepal. She has also done International Post Graduate Certificate Course on Health and Human Rights, organized by CEHAT and University of Mumbai, Department of Civics and Politics. She started her teaching career from 2001 as a lecturer in Kathmandu Medical College Teaching Hospital. During her tenure in different institutions, she has been actively involved in teaching Medical Sociology and Anthropology, Communication, Health Education and Promotion, Family Reproductive Health Care, Reproductive Health and Research Methodology to the Bachelor level students of Medicine (MBBS), Public Health (BPH) and Nursing (B. Sc). Besides this, she has been actively involved in planning, designing and execution of community based field teaching in the health and nutritional surveys, family health care programme, community diagnosis health survey for MBBS and B. Sc Nursing students. She had also worked as a reviewer for different international journals. She has also published articles in different journals like : International Journal of MCH and AIDS (IJMA), Journal of Educational and Social Research (JESR), Journal of Community Medicine and Health Education, International Journal of Social Science and Humanity(IJSSH), South Asian Journal of Medical Science (SAJMS), Asian Journal of Medical Sciences, Journal of Psychology, Journal of Nepal Health Research Council, Journal of Institute of Medicine, Kathmandu University Medical Journal, Journal of Kathmandu Medical College etc. As a team leader, she carried out a research project titled “Diverse technique in Teaching Learning Activities: A Proportional Evaluation from Tribhuwan University Affiliated and Constituent Medical Colleges of Nepal” under Faculty Research Grant funded by University Grant Commission (UGC). She had involved in project “Updating and Verification of Baseline Data for Implementation of Global Sanitation Fund Programme in Nepal – Phase I (Bajura, Bardiya, Tikapur)” and Phase II (Sindhupalchowk, Argakhachi, Sunsari, Dharan, Itahari, Inaruwa)” as a team member. She had also involved in some other project like “knowledge, attitude and practice on drinking water and sanitation”, “Review, monitor and evaluate rural socio-ecological development in eastern Nepal”, “environment, solid waste management and sanitation” conducted by various organizations. She has participated in trainings like Helping Students Learn Medical Ethics and Apply in Practice, Community Oriented Primary Care (COPC), A Concise training on Helping Student Learn (teachers Training), Advance Health Systems Research Methodology, Training of Trainer’s on Qualitative Methods and Data Analysis Process in Health Research, Professional Skill Development Training, Comprehensive Biostatistics Package, Integrated Management of Child Illness (IMCI) and Use of Computer and Internet for Accessing and Management of Health Information. She has presented papers in different conferences like Global Maternal Health Conference 2013, Arusha, Tanzania organized by Maternal Health Task Force and Management and Development for Health, Ninth conference of Indian Association for Social Sciences and Health on “Health, Gender and Inclusive development” Organized by Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Sixth German-Nepalese International Doctors and Psychologists Conference on Hypnosis, Pain, Trauma, Rehabilitation, Ayurveda & Shamanism in Kathmandu organized by Forderkreis Hilfe fur Nepal in joint collaboration with Milton Erickson Society, Germany. She has also participated in some other conferences and workshops like First National Summit of Health and Population Scientists in Nepal on “Health and Population Research for Informed Decision Making: Where We Are?” Organized by Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC), First National Conference on Health Promotion on “Strategies for Changing Behaviours in 21st Century”, jointly organized by the Ministry of Health and Population and a consortium of national and international partners, Kathmandu, and First National Conference on Epidemiology, organized by Nepal Health Research Council, Ministry of Health and World Health Organization, Development Partnerships in Higher Education (DelPHE ) workshop organized by Central Department of Population Studies, Tribhuvan University, Nepal (Lead Partner Institution) in Collaboration with Sheffield University, Bournemouth University, Aberdeen University (UK Partner Institutions) and a NGO in Kathmandu, the Development Resource Centre (Partner Institution), State of Medical Sociology/Anthropology: Research and Teaching in Nepal, workshop organized by Martin Chautari on 26th February 2012, Thapathali, Kathmandu. Dr. Pandey is life member of Indian Association for Social Sciences and Health [A chapter of the Asia Pacific Network (APNET)] and member of International Economics Development and Research Center (IEDRC).
