Biography

Shauna M. Burke is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Western Ontario. She received her Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology from McMaster University, and her MA and PhD from the University of Western Ontario. Her primary research area is the psychology of health and physical activity, with a specific focus on group dynamics and child and youth health. Dr. Burke has published several research articles related to topics such as childhood obesity, physical activity and exercise, group dynamics, and team building. She was also Principle Investigator of a grant that she and a team of researchers received to develop, implement, and assess a group-based lifestyle intervention (“C.H.A.M.P.”) for obese children and their families.

Research Interest

Her primary research area is the psychology of health and physical activity, with a specific focus on group dynamics and child and youth health.
