Biography

Shahrizad Yusof is a lecturer and researcher in Universiti Putra Malaysia. She is teaching in the Department of Biology in the university. Her research area is Ecotoxicology. She joined the university as a Science Teacher for the matriculation level, then appointed as a lecturer.In the early years of her carrier, Shahrizad has written several science text books for primary and secondary schools in her country. She has been actively promoting science to school children.In 2000 Shahrizad joined the Wildlife and Ecotoxicology Research Group in the university and since then has been passionately conducting researches on wildlife and water pollution. She emphasises on the effects of the pollutants on Javanese medaka (Oryzias javanicus), a fish that she promotes as test organism to represent the vertebrates. She has published several research articles on the subject. As the fish is native to Malaysia, she also studies the biology and ecology of the fish.Apart from her job in the university, Shahrizad is frequently invited to review books and articles on science and technology particularly in her field of expertise.

Research Interest

Her research area is Ecotoxicology with emphasis on coastal pollution and its effect on biota.
