Biography

Aloysio da S. Ferrão-Filho is having a degree in Biological Sciences from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (1988), MA in Ecology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1993) and Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (Biophysics) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1998). He is currently a researcher at the Instituto Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz). Has expertise in Ecology, with especial emphasis on Plankton Ecology, covering topics such as zooplankton-cyanobacteria interactions, ecological stoichiometry, and ecotoxicology.

The toxicity of a cyanobacterial strain Cylindrospermopsis raciborskii was evaluated in acute toxicity tests with mouse, Daphnia and fish.
