Biography

I was born in Italy and I studied Neuropsychology at “Sapienza” University of Rome. I took the PhD in Biochemical Sciences and Neuroscience at University of L'Aquila. I started my studies in the pre-clinical research creating animal models of Eating Disorders and Addiction. During the PhD, I've been fascinated by the hypotheses that a gene-environment interplay could have a key role in Eating Disorders and Drug Addiction. I created a new animal model of compulsive chocolate seeking/taking behavior, and I studied the catecholaminergic meso-cortico-limbic system, comparing two inbred strains of mice. During the PhD, I studied abroad in Brazil (Brasilia) to create a Non-Human Primate model of chocolate compulsion. After, I won a European Fellowship and I made a research experience in Spain (Seville) where I improved my knowledge on genetics and cellular biology. Now, I'm a PostDoc Researcher in Japan (Toyama) in the field of Electrophysiology of Eating Disorders.
