Biography
I obtained my PhD at The University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in 1993. Since then I have been a full time professor at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). My core academic interests are on landscape ecology geobotany, biodiversity conservation, forest ecosystem management and land cover change analyses. I have recently oriented my work towards knowledge transference to guide social sectors such as indigenous communities and policy makers in decision making.
