Dr. Can Zhang is currently an Instructor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). His research interests include a wide range of fields including neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimerâs disease (AD), as well as immunological and infectious diseases. His longterm research goal is aimed at elucidating the underlying mechanistic causes of AD and thus identifying novel therapeutics for AD. He has successfully identified and characterized several novel modulators involved in the pathogenesis of AD, which results in several publications on top-tier journals. His research accomplishment has earned him several prestigious local and national research awards, including an MGH For Medical Discovery Award, an MADRC Neurodegenerative Disease Pilot Study Award, an NRSA from NIH, and a most recent K99 NIH Pathway to Independence Award. Besides research, Dr. Zhang enjoys teaching his students and technologists, many of whom went on to M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. studies.
