Carol Komaromy

Research Fellow to Head of Department and Programme Director for the Health and Social Care Department.

Biography

Carol Komaromy has worked at the Open University since 1994, occupying several academic roles from Research Fellow to Head of Department and Programme Director for the Health and Social Care Department. She has contributed to several courses in production, most notably chairing the remake of the undergraduate module on death and dying and currently charing the production of a module on dementia care. Her research interests lie in the area of ethnography and death and dying. She is a core member of the Birth and Death research group and a member of the international Association for the Study of Death and Society and co-editor of the international journal of death studies, Mortality. Her practice background in nursing and midwifery is an important part of keeping the experience of health care central.
