Ãlise Roy holds a medical degree and a Masters in Community Health. Since October 2005 she is a professor in Addiction Service of the Department of Community Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Sherbrooke. She is also a medical consultant to the Public Health Department of Montreal for over 20 years. In terms of research, for nearly fifteen years, she conducts studies based on quantitative and qualitative methods of risk behavior and sexually transmitted infections and blood from people marginalized addicts, including street youth .
She is particularly interested in the problematic use of trajectories of psychoactive substances, to social and health consequences of this consumption and the development and evaluation of innovative interventions in this area
