Biography
Shenell Evans, Ph.D. is a postdoctoral fellow at the HIV Center for Clinical and Behavioral Studies at Columbia University and the New York State Psychiatric Institute. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Jackson State University, and is a licensed clinical psychologist.Research Interest
Dr. Evans is interested in investigating correlates and predictors of HIV treatment adherence. Prior to her appointment at the HIV Center, her research focused on the influence of various psychosocial and behavioral factors (i.e., depression, substance abuse, posttraumatic stress, social support, coping self-efficacy, religious coping, and posttraumatic growth) on HIV treatment adherence among African Americans in the Deep South. Dr. Evans has been actively involved in advocacy and community mobilization initiatives as a member of the Black AIDS Instituteâs Black Treatment Advocates Network (BTAN).Publications
