Ronald Fraser

Ronald Fraser, MD, FRCP (C) Head, Inpatient Detoxification Service Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry, McGill University

Biography

Ronald Fraser graduated from Dalhousie Medical School as valedictorian in 1995. After his residency training in psychiatry at McGill University, he completed a fellowship in Addictions Psychiatry in 2001, studying heroin dependence and detoxification techniques. After a period working in rural Nova Scotia, he returned to McGill in 2003 as an assistant professor to head their inpatient detoxification service. In 2004, he was mandated to create and direct a long term treatment program for clients with Borderline Personality Disorder at the McGill University Health Centre.
Research Interest

His research interests reflect in Illicit and Prescription Opiate Dependence: The Impact of Axis II Psychiatric Comorbidity on Detoxification Outcome and had wide range of publications in various national and international journals. He is the Editorial Board Member of - Journal of Addiction Research & Therapy, and serves as a member of various associations. His research also includes, Psychiatric Symptoms, Neurodegenerative Disorders, Experimental Neurology, NMR Applications in Biomedicine, Drug Addiction Treatment.
