Yoko Tarumi

Associate Clinical Professor

Biography

Dr. Tarumi earned her medical degree in 1991 from the Sapporo Medical University, fulfilled residencies in anesthesiology from 1991 to 1994 at the Sapporo Medical University in Japan. She further underwent a clinical fellowship in internal medicine, and then worked as an attending physician at the palliative care unit, Higashi Sapporo Hospital till 1999.
She has worked as a community consultant in the Capital Health Regional Palliative Care Program and since June 2006 is the Director of the Palliative Care Consult Program at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.She has had a longstanding interest in palliative care and pain management and has published on subjects such as management of cancer pain in older adults, ethics in palliative care, opioid use for pain control and educational issues in palliative medicine in Canada and Japan.
