Abstract
The aim of the study was to evaluate the airborne bacteria and fungi called as bioallergens in two different hospital areas of Visakhapatnam. The bioallergens can cause allergic reactions in the sensitive individuals. In our study we have selected an Outpatient, General ward, ICU and Operation theatre of two different hospital areas, to assess the presence of bioallergens. The bioallergens identified were Bacillus, Escherichia coli, Enterobacter aerogenes, Pseudomonas, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus lactis, Alternaria, Aspergillus, Cladosporium, Curvularia, Helminthosporium, Mucor, Rhizopus, Trichoderma, and Verticillium. The presence of bioallergens was high in Out patient followed by General ward, ICU and Operation theatre.
