Abstract
The forests serve as green economy which contributes in meeting green economy objectives, linked to climate change policies, mainly restricting the greenhouse gas emissions and serve in expansion of renewable energy objectives. Green economy serve as the basis for private and public benefits as the fact that growth in income and employment is realized which is driven by public and private investments. This investment reduces carbon emissions and provides the ecosystem goods and services enhancing efficiency and loss of biodiversity is reduced up to an extent. The advancement of Remote sensing technology especially optical helps in facilitating the studies related to assessment and monitoring of forest vegetation\land use changes. The present paper addresses the status of tree species and requirements for its monitoring and assessment. The multistage statistical technique with incorporated the satellite data of IRS P-6 LISS III gives a precise estimation of total carbon in Sariska Tiger Reserve. Estimation of carbon can serve as useful benchmark for future studies in related areas. Correlation between estimated and predicted above ground biomass (AGB) is 0.835 and coefficient of determination (R2) value is 0.698. Taking forest as input produces low-carbon goods from timber to food. Forests can be called as the operator of ecological infrastructure, provide public services such as climate regulation, reducing soil erosion and water resource protection. Forests are furnisher of novelty and insurance services with the aid of sustainability, providing low carbon solutions.
