Abstract
This paper presents a very up-to-date topic about water as a resource. Water is described as something whose abundance or deficiency should be critically examined. An important emphasis is put on approaches to seawater desalination and drinking water supply in arid areas. Finally, a summary of the selected topic is given. It is generally known that water is the source of life and that it plays a crucial role in everyday life, economy and industry. All in all, the development of human civilization is inextricably linked to water. At the same time, ground water is a drinking water dispenser and habitat. It is important for people as well as for the economy. We use water for nutrition, daily hygiene, our leisure activities, etc. Water is also a major factor in economy as an energy source, transport medium and raw material. Sustainable use and biodiversity are important prerequisites for effective protection of the water resources. For these reasons, the exploration of the chosen subject in this paper has been devoted to the most decisive factors referring to the water resources. For example, the global climate changes worldwide, the population growth and the industrialization of the developing countries. In this paper, several water-related problems are treated. First, the importance of water in our lives is presented. Then, it is gone deeper into the focus on global overflow and water deficiency. Second, a few approaches to seawater desalination and drinking water supply in arid areas are presented. In addition, water policies in the water sector are analyzed and an outlook for the future is given. In the conclusion, a summary of the results is presented. Recent Publications 1.
