Abstract
Purpose : The impact of occupational factors on smoking behavior among Korean employees was identified in this study. Methods: Data were obtained from employees using the Korean Working Condition Survey 2011. Multiple logistic regression analysis using SAS version 9.3 was performed to examine occupational risk factors of smoking behavior. Results : Current cigarette smoking was significantly associated with the following occupational factors: biological.chemical risks (OR=1.13; 95% CI: 1.05-1.21); workplace violence (OR=1.13; 95% CI: 1.05-1.21); working 48 hours or more (OR=1.16; 95% CI: 1.09-1.23); and work-life balance (OR=0.87; 95% CI: 0.82-0.93). Conclusion: There is a need to develop and support smoking cessation programs nationally giving consideration to smoking behavior associated with working time, working environment, and work-life balance
