Biography
Dr. Héctor Hugo García Coordinating member of the Cysticercosis Working Group in Perú, Dr. H. García is a Peruvian physician graduated from Cayetano Heredia University in Lima in 1989. He later obtained his PhD in International Health (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, USA, in 2002. Author of over 150 papers, multiple book chapters and two books in the subject of Helminth Zoonoses, particularly neurocysticercosis, Dr. García is currently Professor at the Department of Microbiology of the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Director of the Center for Global Health - Tumbes in the same university, and Head of the Cysticercosis Unit of the National Institute of Neurological Sciences in Lima, Peru.
