B R Achyut

Assistant Professor, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Member- Tumor Signaling and Angiogenesis, Georgia Cancer Center
Augusta University

Biography

B R Achyut is currently working in Georgia Cancer Center as Assistant Research Scientist Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

Research Interest

My current research interest includes investigation of cellular and molecular mechanisms of conventional and emerging cancer hallmarks such as inflammation, tumor microenvironment, angiogenesis, vasculogenesis, vascular mimicry and therapeutic resistance in brain cancer (glioblastoma) and metastasis models (lung and brain). During 2009 to 2014, my postdoctoral trainings at National Cancer Institute-NIH, Henry Ford Hospital and Augusta University (Medical College of Georgia) helped me to evolve as an independent investigator to carryout animal studies involving bone marrow transplantation, tumor microenvironment, myeloid cell polarization, TGFBR2 knockout in myeloid cells and fibroblasts etc. Previously, I obtained my PhD (2009) in India and investigated role of genomic variations in inflammatory cytokine genes in the susceptibility of Helicobacter pylori associated gastritis and precancerous lesions.
