Biography

Dr. Charles Packianathan graduated from the CAS in Crystallography and Biophysics, University of Madras, Chennai, India. During his PhD program, he was awarded to a Laboratory Assistant and Tutorial Assistant under University Grants Commission, India. Later on he was awarded to Senior Research Fellow under CSIR, India, a government funding agency. He came to USA as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the year 2008 to the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, Indiana University, Indiana. His work was mainly focused on macromolecular Crystallography and three dimensional structure determination of the biologically important proteins and enzymes. Currently Dr. Charles is working as a Research Associate in the Laboratory of Dr. Barry P. Rosen. His main focus is to investigating the structure and function of the human novel protein Arsenic Methyltransferase (AS3MT) which is involved in liver detoxification of arsenic, a Group 1 human carcinogen.
