Biography
Dr. Caio Cesar Souza Alves is currently Professor of Microbiology and Parasitology in the Faculty of Medicine at the Federal University of the Valleys of Jequitinhonha and Mucuri - UFVJM, Minas Gerais, Brazil. His research broadly encompasses the study of new compounds with immune modulation activity, and he has published over 30 scientific papers. He earned a B. Sc in Biology and his M.S. and PhD. in Health (Immunology section) at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, Department of Parasitology, Microbiology and Immunology (with Dr. A. P. Ferreira). He was a postdoctoral Research Associate at Federal University of Juiz de Fora, Department of Parasitology, Microbiology and Immunology (with Dr. A. P. Ferreira) before joining the Faculty of Medicine at UFVJM. He was a fellow of the PhD Program with Overseas Stage in 2010-2011, at the University of Newcastle – Australia (with Dr. J. Mattes).
Research Interest
Novel compound with immunomodulatory activity, cell culture, pulmonary allergy, experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis, carrageenan paw edema, inflammation, novel compounds with leishmanicidal and anti-malarial activity
