Biography
Prof. Shanthy Sundaram has received her PhD in.Microbiology from Barkatullah University, India during the period of 1992. Currently, she is working as Professsor and Head, Department of Biotechnology in Allahabad University. She has successfully completed her Administrative responsibilities as Superintendent of girls hostel. Her research has included extensive studies on cyanobacterial biochemical and physiological studies under environmental stress. Based on this research and fellowship training she has received several awards and honors, such as…CSIR-SRF, British Council fellowship to work in UK,Academic staff fellowship, UGC, Italian CARINA visiting faculty programme. She is serving as an editorial member of several reputed journals like Reviewer of Scientific journals: 1. Reviewer of Journals of Agriculture and Biological Sciences 2. Reviewer of International Journal of Medicine and Medical Sciences 3. Reviewer of Clinica Acta Chemica. 4. Reviewer of African Journal of Medicinal Research 5. Biochemistry & Physiology 6. Research Interest
1. Micropropagation of medicinal plants using plant tissue culture, purification and characterization of their secondary metabolites, for antibacterial, antifungal, anticancer and immunomodulatory properties. , 2. Fungal pathogen detection in plants/crops. , 3. Phycologicalstudies under various stress, as biomaterial for designing biosensors and to study its potential as biofuel. , 4. Nutraceutical and value addition of fruit wastes. , 5. Immunological characterization Leishmania strains.
