Biography
Dr. Williams-Hooker worked at St Jude Children's Research Hospital for 19 years. While there, she became interested in research with children who have sickle cell disease and how they may benefit from nutrition interventions. Additionally, she did research on ways to improve quality of life in children with cancer. She has taught classes at Shelby State Community College and Union University and the University of Memphis, part time, before coming to UM full time in 2008.Since coming to the university in 2008, Dr. Williams-Hooker continues her research with children who have sickle cell anemia or cancer. She collaborates with St Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Sickle Cell Foundation of Tennessee.
Research Interest
Dr. Williams-Hooker has also gained an interested in healthy eating for various audiences and conducting grocery store tours as a way to education people on healthy food selections.
