Biography

Dr. Gara obtained his triple major’s Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Botany and Zoology from Andhra Pradesh, INDIA. He did his Master’s in Biotechnology and Bio-Engineering from one of the premier institutes in INDIA, the Indian Institute of Technology – Kanpur. He then moved to the University of Cologne, Germany with an international research fellowship to pursue his doctoral studies in functional genomics and genetics. Since 2011, he is currently pursuing his postdoctoral studies at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda. From 2011-2013, he identified the role the TGF beta mediated signaling in myeloid derived tumor suppressor cells in breast cancer metastasis. Later, I moved to the Endocrine Oncology Branch, within the NCI and actively involved in identifying and characterizing the genes that are associated with familial non medullary thyroid cancer and other cancer types. In addition, he was actively involved in the projects that aim to identify novel diagnostic biomarkers (particularly metabolites) in Urine and Serum samples of thyroid cancer patients. Dr. Gara is passionate and very much dedicated to contribute the best of his effort and his expertise to provide a better life for the patients suffering with cancer.
