Ardith Z. Doorenbos
Biography
Ardith Doorenbos, PhD, RN, FAAN, teaches in the Department of Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Systems. Dr. Doorenbos' scholarly focus is to improve palliative care experience for diverse individuals and families within the global community. At the state and regional level, she serves on the South Puget Sound Intertribal Agency (SPIPA) Community Advisory Board as an expert in cancer survivorship and end-of-life issues. At the national level she reviews for a number of scholarly journals, including the Journal of Nursing Scholarship and the Journal of Palliative Medicine.In 2012, Dr. Doorenbos was awarded a three year Center of Excellence in Pain Education by the National Institute of Health Pain Consortium to enhance the teaching of pain management in all six UW health science schools. In 2013, shew was awarded the UW School of Nursing Award for Excellence in Promoting Diversity through Teaching.Research Interest
