Dr. Dalby has a long-standing commitment to research development, research implementation, and research education. Her research interests have been threefold: 1) Basic pain physiology research. 2) Postoperative pain and nausea and vomiting prevention. 3) Obstetrical anesthesia outcome measures. She has been actively involved with research since she came to the University of Pittsburgh and has consistently contributed to all parts of the research process from serving in the initial advisory and developmental research arena, to executing many research protocols. From 1992 until 1999, Dr. Dalby was a member of the Magee-Womens’ Hospital Institutional Review Board where she monthly reviewed research protocols. Similarly she has reviewed protocols as a member of Magee-Womens Hospital Research Institute. Currently she is a reviewer on the Department of Anesthesiology Scientific Affairs Committee as well as a member of the departmental Risk Management Committee, which reviews departmental seed grant and clinical trials proposals respectively, as well as applications to the departmental research fellowship program.
