The founding of the clinic was largely due to Wilhelm Griesinger , who had influenced the psychiatry of his time: Griesinger propagated a more modern and more human image of the patient. From 1860 to 1865 he was head of the Clinic for Internal Medicine in Zurich and became the founding father of the clinic.
