Research efforts center on developing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) techniques for translational medical applications. I am particularly interested in the in vivo imaging of brain white-matter architecture and function. The non-invasive examination of white-matter architecture with MRI is possible thanks to two basic phenomenons: 1) water diffusion inside the axons is anisotropic (orientation varying), and 2) magnetic susceptibility of the axon is also anisotropic.
