Dr. Zhou is a professor in the School of Health Sciences at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology RMIT University in Australia. Having originally studied and practiced clinical medicine in China he undertook his PhD in pharmacology at the University of Auckland, New Zealand and has also worked at the National University of Singapore and the Queensland University of Technology. He is currently affiliated with the WHO Collaborating Center for Traditional Medicine. Professor Zhou is the editor of Drug Metabolism Letters and acts as a guest editor for Current Pharmaceutical Design and Current Drug Metabolism. In addition he is an Associate Editor or Editorial Board Member of several other international journals including Current Drug Therapy the Open Journal of Drug Metabolism and Therapeutics and Clinical Risk Management. He is a reviewer for dozens of international scientific journals including Drug Safety the International Journal of Pharmaceutics, the Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, the Lancet and Pharmacology and Therapeutics. In 2005 he was the recipient of the Research Excellence Award at the Pharmacy Honors Day from the National University of Singapore, Department of Pharmacy. Dr. Jun (Luke) Huan is an Associate Professor in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at the University of Kansas. He is an affiliated member of the KU Information and Telecommunication Technology Center (ITTC), Bioinformatics Center, and Bioengineering Program. Dr. Huan received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2006 (with Wei Wang, Jan Prins, and Alexander Tropsha). Before joining KU in 2006, he worked at the Argonne National Laboratory (with Ross Overbeek) and the GlaxoSmithKline plc. (with Nicolas Guex). Adrián LLerena is the Director of the Clinical Research Center in the University Hospital Infanta Cristina en Badajoz Spain. He is also Professor of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology in two Medical Schools in the University of Extremadura Spain and part time in the University of Beira Interior, Portugal. He earned his PhD at University of Extremadura in 1988 and between 1989 to 1993 did his post doc at Karolinska Institute Sweden focusing on Clinical Pharmacogenetics of antidepressant and antipsychotic drugs. His teaching experience is of more than 20 years in Spain and of about 9 years in Portugal. He has supervised more than 10 PhD thesis so far. He has also been an invited as Professor in different Universities in USA such as University of California at Los Angeles 2004 Mount Sinai Medical School at NY 2005 and Miller Medical School at Miami 2006 and in Latin America such as UNAM in Mexico San Marcos in Peru Chile Brasil etc. He has published more than 100 peer reviewed papers and book chapters. He is also coordinating the IberoAmerican network of Pharmacogenetics since 2006. He served in different Scietific societies as IberoAmerican Society of Pharmacogenomics. He has been Principal Investigator in more than 25 national and European research projects. My research is focused on Pharmacogenetics and Clinical Pharmacology since 1986. My PhD Thesis was the first pharmacogenetic study of CYP2D6 with debrisoquine in Spain. Later, my research at Karolinska Institute during my PostDoc was focused on Clinical Pharmacogenetics of antipsychotic and antidepressant drugs. Dr. Mark Stein is a clinical psychologist researcher Professor and Director of the ADHD Clinical Research Program Mark Stein directs the Child and Adult ADHD Clinics and ADHD Clinical Research at the Institute of Juvenile Research at University of Illinois at Chicago where he is a Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Pediatrics. Previously he was Chair of Psychology at Childrens National Medical Center and Professor of Psychiatry at The University of Chicago. Dr. Stein completed his internship in Child Clinical Psychology at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute and received his PhD in 1982 from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale for over 25 years. My research focus is to develop computational models for personalized drug exposure prediction and its effects on drug responses. I am integrating genetic, epigenetic, environmental (i.e. drug interactions), physiological, clinical, and demographic variables into the modeling system. Extensive computational and informatics approaches are used: statistics, computational optimization, text mining, and ontology. The application of these drug exposure predictive models includes the patients population breast cancer, leukemia, autism, AIDS, and pregnant women. I am also exploring the application of this modeling system to the electronic medical records.

Dr. Wei Dai received his Ph.D. degree from Purdue University in 1988.  Dr. Dai is currently a professor in the Departments of Environmental Medicine and Pharmacology, New York University School of Medicine. Prior to joining New York University, Dr. Dai was a faculty member (1994-2000) in the Division of Hematology-Oncology in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, a Senior Scientist (2000-2001) at the Institute For Cancer Prevention, and a Professor (2001-2006) in the Department of Medicine at New York Medical College.  In the 1990s, Dr. Dai’s research team reported the cloning and characterization of several novel human genes involved in cell division or cell cycle checkpoint control. His current research interests are focused on cell cycle regulation, mitotic checkpoint control, and the mechanisms suppressing chromosomal instability and malignant transformation during cell division. Dr. Daoud will be the Principal Investigator of this project, The goal of the proposed research is to define the epigenetic signatures of HCV disease progression to an early stage of HCC in clinical samples obtained from Egyptian patients using an integrated approach of DNA methylation and CGH array technologies. The epigenetic/genetic signatures of the identified targets could then be used as markers for prognosis and diagnosis of the disease as well as targets for new and innovative approaches to the prevention and treatment of HCC especially that a prophylactic vaccine for HCV infection is not yet available. His administrative experience as the PI of two previously funded grants in the similar areas of research SG Komen and DoD as well as his tenure as Associate Professor of Pharmacology attest to his ability to meet the administrative needs of the proposed project. His membership in the Center for Integrated Biotechnology CIB assure that the assembled team will have access to a wide range of expanding resources. Dr. Daoud is also the editor of a newly published book in an area relevant to the proposed research titled “Cancer Proteomics: From Bench to Bedside” by Humana Press 2008. Thus the current application builds logically on his prior work in the area of genomics and proteomics of cancer and he has chosen coinvestigators Drs Zekri Esmat Bahnassy Dasgupta Shaffer and Skinner to provide additional expertise needed for the success of the application. In summary Dr. Daoud has a demonstrated record of successful and productive research projects in an area of high relevance to the health of the US population and his expertise and experience has prepared him to lead the proposed project.

Dr. Rudy J. Richardson is the Dow Professor of Toxicology in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. He also holds joint appointments in the Bioinformatics Program, Neuroscience Program, and Department of Neurology. He earned the ScD degree in Physiology/Toxicology at Harvard University. He has published over 80 journal articles and 20 book chapters, and he has served on the editorial boards of several journals in toxicology. He is board-certified by the American Board of Toxicology and a member of the Society of Toxicology, where he has served as president of the Neurotoxicology Specialty Section. Among his awards is the Society of Toxicology Board of Publications Award for the best paper published in a society journal.

Kim A. Caldwell is an Associate Professor in Department of Biological Sciences, The  University of Alabama, USA.  She earned her PhD at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, USA. Currently, she is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham in the Departments of Neurobiology and Neurology.  She has published 40 peer-reviewed papers, and she is the author of 8 book chapters.  She has teaching experience of more than 9 years and was an Education Fellow in the Life Sciences from the National Academy of Sciences and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (2006).  She has served as a reviewer of peer-reviewed journals in the areas of cell biology, genetics, and neurobiology.   She has received many awards such as a Best Young Investigator Award from the Movement Disorders Society (2006), the HudsonAlpha Prize for Innovation in Life Sciences (2008), the Blackmon-Moody Outstanding Professor award at The University of Alabama (2008), and the Outstanding Achievement Award from the State University of New York College at Fredonia (2009).

Dr. Anil Modak is the Associate Director of Medical Products Research Development at Cambridge Isotope Laboratories in Andover. Dr. Anil Modak has been involved in the design research and development of novel non invasive breath tests for personalized medicine using stable isotope substrates for the diagnosis of disease states and evaluation of enzyme activity. He is the author of several recent patents and publications. He has reviewed papers for reputed journals and authored one book chapter. He serves on the Editorial board of the Journal of Breath Research. His previous experience includes working for Ribozyme Pharmaceuticals in Boulder CO and Monsanto in St. Louis, MO. His postdoctoral research was conducted at the University of Iowa and Kings College London.

Evgeny Krynetskiy is an Associate Professor in the Pharmaceutical Sciences, Department of School of Pharmacy, Temple University, Philadelphia, USA. He earned his PhD at Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia. Currently he is the Director of Jayne Haines Center for Pharmacogenomics and Drug Safety at Temple University, School of Pharmacy and holds a secondary appointment as an Associate Professor in the Fels Institute for Cancer Research and Molecular Biology, Temple University. He has published over 80 reviewed papers and was an author of two book chapters. For more than 10 years he has been teaching Pharmacogenomics to professional and graduate students at Schools of Pharmacy. He served as a reviewer of peer reviewed journals in the area of pharmacogenetics and genomics. He is a recipient of Karnofsky Fellowship for Cancer Research at St. Jude Childrenmiddot s Research Hospital.

Dr. Krynetskiy s lab concentrates on the study of DNA damage sensors and their role in initiating apoptosis after chemotherapy. This research includes development of model experimental systems based on murine embryonic fibroblasts and different types of human cancer cell lines, generation and computational processing of gene expression and proteomic data following drug treatment. The second area of Dr. Krynetskiy s interests focuses on the role of inherited factors that modulate drug response and cause adverse drug reactions, such as genetic polymorphism of drug-metabolizing enzymes and drug targets. The ultimate goal of this study is to predict and prevent adverse reactions to drugs in genetically predisposed patients.

Xiaohua Zhang is an Associate Director in Department of Biometrics Research, Merck Research Laboratories, West Point, Pennsylvania, USA. He earned his PhD at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. He has published 38 Reviewed papers and he was author of a single authored book and 2 book chapters. He served as Executive Member in Biopharmaceutical Section of American Statistical Association. He was one of the members in American Statistical Association International Society for Computational Biology International Society for Biopharmaceutical Statistics Drug Safety Executive Council International Association of Engineers and Institute of Mathematical Statistics. Dr. Joanne Wang is Associate Professor of Pharmaceutics at the University of Washington and an affiliate investigator at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC), Seattle, Washington.  She received a B.S. in Biochemistry from Peking University, an M.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of California, San Francisco, USA.

Shi-Fang Yan has completed post doctoral training from Physicians and Surgeons College of Columbia University. She is an Associate Professor at the Department of Medicine and Pharmacology, New York University, School of Medicine. She is a leading investigator of the molecular and cellular mechanisms of diabetic complications, including ischemic disorders and vascular disorders. Her major focuses are on the dissection of the interplay between the three key molecules linked to vascular stress, including Egr-1, PKC, and RAGE. She has published more than 100 research/review articles in medical journals, including Nature Medicine, Journal of Clinical Investigation, PNAS, Circulation Research, FASEB, JBC, Atherosclerosis and etc. She was the Winners of the Council 2000 Cournand and Comroe Young Investigator Award and a best poster award (2005) at the American Heart Association. She has been serving as an Editorial Board Member, a grant reviewer at American Heart Association Cardiac Bio BCT 1 study section.

My research interests are on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of diabetic complications, including ischemic disorders and vascular disorders. Following my initial findings of Egr-1 as a central mediator of stress responses in hypoxia and ischemia. My major focuses are on the dissection of the contribution of the interplay between the three key molecules, Egr-1, PKCβ and RAGE, that exacerbates inflammation and damage, to heart disease-related vascular injury, such as atherosclerosis and limb ischemia, especially in diabetes.

Dr. Riju Ray is a Research Associate in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA. He completed his basic medical training from New Delhi India at the University College of Medical Sciences and subsequently earned his PhD in Pharmacology at the University of Pennsylvania. Philadelphia, USA. Currently he is developing a PET imaging research program within the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Nicotine Addiction and will be soon an Assistant Professor and Director of PET Imaging research in Nicotine Addiction at the University of Pennsylvania. He has published 23 reviewed papers and he was author of one book and two book chapters. He serves as an member of the Clinical Trial Magnifier Advisory Board and vice president of enterprenuership for the Penn Biotech Group. He served as a reviewer of peer reviewed journals in the area of psychiatry imaging pharmacogenomics and nicotine addiction. Dr. Riju Ray’s research interest and expertise are in pharmacogenetic and imaging investigations in nicotine addiction. His interest lies in identification of pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic genetic markers that predict treatment response using candidate gene and pathway based genetic approaches. He also has an interest in PET and fMRI imaging studies to understand the functional consequences of genetic polymorphisms in the brain, mechanism of medication action, and neural substrates of withdrawal.

Jun Nakaya is an Associate Professor in Information Center for Medical Sciences in The Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Japan. He earned his PhD and MD at Hokkaido University Sapporo. Currently, he is the International Project Leader of GSVML Genomic Sequence Variation Markup Language at ISO TC215, WG2 and a member of WHO ICD11 Health Informatics and Modeling Topic Advisory Group. He has published more than hundred Reviewed papers and he was author of more than dozens book chapters. He has been teaching experience of more than 27 years. He has published almost 100 papers in the area of Cancer and serves as a reviewer in a number of Journals. He belongs to several Scientific Societies and has been awarded by his work by diverse Societies and Institutions. He also has lectured and presented his work in important scientific meetings around the world.

His research interests are the repositioning of drugs in the area of cancer epigenetics and metabolic therapy of cancer, as well the pharmacoepigenetics of cancer drugs.

Danxin Wang earned her MD at Fudan University Medical School and PhD at Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology Academy of Military Medical Science in Beijing, China. Currently, she is a Research Scientist and Adjunct Professor in Department of Pharmacology and an Associate Director of Program in Pharmacogenomics in The Ohio State University. She has published over 40 research papers and has several United Sate Patent Applications. She served as a reviewer of peerreviewed journals in the area of molecular pharmacology and pharmacogenomics.

Kelen G Tantisira is an Assistant Professor in Department of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, USA. I earned my MPH on Quantitative Methods at Harvard School of Public Health Boston. I have also tutored for the HMS course in clinical epidemiology for three of the past five years. My primary clinical contributions have come via the Pulmonary Consult Service as above. I have served on the consult service for at least six weeks in each of the past three years. Additionally, I run a pediatric asthma clinic as part of the Partners Asthma Centers at the Brigham and Womens Hospitals Brookside Community Health Care Center. I am peer reviewer of more than 40 research articles.

My primary research interest is the determination of how genetic variants interact with environmental factors resulting in a complex trait. As a result of my training and experiences, I have chosen asthma as the model complex trait for my work. To support this global perspective, my research at the Channing Laboratory has focused on epidemiologic studies to evaluate environmental determinants of asthma as well as specific studies of asthma genetics. I have active research interests in several areas, including factors influencing the natural history of asthma, early life determinants of asthma susceptibility, the obesity/asthma relationship, and effects of volcanic smog on respiratory health. Careful elucidation of risk factors resulting from these epidemiologic studies can provide an impetus for continued work involving the genetic contribution to asthma, given a specific environmental risk factor, or vice versa.

Dr. Asha R. Kallianpur is a physician scientist and epidemiologist on the faculty of the Department of Medicine and Institute for Medicine Public Health at Vanderbilt University. She is trained in Internal Medicine and Hematology.

Genetic disorders of iron metabolism such as hereditary hemochromatosis, oxidative injury, and the impact of variation in iron transport on chronic diseases and cancer. Her research team actively investigates the role of nuclear and mitochondrial genomic variation, including variation in iron transport, on breast and endometrial cancer etiology, cancer survival, and in chronic disease complications. With collaborators in Hematology, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, and Neuropathology. Dr. Kallianpur has studied the role of iron transport in chemotherapy toxicities and in antiretroviral drug-associated complications such as neuropathy and lipoatrophy, major problems for patients with cancer and HIV/AIDS, respectively, worldwide. The consistent theme of her translational work has been to develop the evidence base for interventions to improve clinical outcomes for patients with, or at risk for, cancer and other chronic conditions. Her ultimate goal is to translate accumulated knowledge about the relative risks and benefits of dietary and supplemental iron, into low-cost interventions for primary and secondary disease prevention.

Dr. V. P. Eswarakumaris ia an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedicsand Pharmacology in Yale University School of Medicine, USA. The research focus of my lab is to explore the molecular and cellular mechanism of fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) signaling in craniofacial development, branching morphogenesis and mineral homeostasis.

Dr. Sompop Bencharit is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics School of Dentistry and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill UNC. Dr. Bencharit received his DDS in 1994 and Clinical Diploma in Prosthodontics in 1996 from Chulalongkorn University Bangkok, Thailand. Dr. Bencharit came to UNC in 1996 for his residency training and graduate education. He earned his Certificate and Master Degree in Prosthodontics in 1999 a PhD in Oral Biology in 2003 and a Certificate in Clinical Research in 2008 from UNC. In November 2009 Dr. Bencharit became a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists. He is one of a very few clinician scientists who are both board certified dental specialists and PhD scientists.

Dr. Bencharit is a protein structural biologist specializing in protein X-ray crystallography. He has his research interests in structural biology and its applications to human diseases in particular the role of signaling proteins involved in vessel and bone development. He is also interested in the clinical applications of salivary and tissue proteomics using advanced mass spectrometry. His main laboratory goals include (1) structural and functional studies of cerebral cavernous malformation (CCM), a genetic disorder resulting in vascular defects in the brain causing hemorrhagic stroke (2) salivary proteomic analysis and biomarker discovery for diabetes and HIV-related diseases, and (3) biology of bone regeneration and implant dentistry.

Tatjana Abaffy is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Miami, Florida, USA. She obtained her PhD from the University of Auckland New Zealand studying complex physiology of glucose homeostasis. Her postdoctoral training was in the chemosensory field and involved studying taste and smell olfactory receptors and signal transduction.

Currently, she is involved in a translational research related to skin cancer biomarkers detection, detection of skin volatile compounds, in particular melanoma skin cancer biomarkers. Her research team is using gas chromatography and mass spectrometry to identify volatile biomarkers. In addition, she is using computational approaches to identify olfactory receptors that recognize melanoma volatile biomarkers.

Shakunthala Narasimhulu is a tenured standing faculty in the school of medicine Harrison, Department of Surgical Research at the University of Pennsylvania. She earned her PhD in Biochemistry at Thomas Jefferson University. Shakunthala Narasimhulu has published over 20 peer reviewed research articles.

Dr. Huixiao Hong is a senior Scientist at the Division of Systems Toxicology, National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR), US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Arkansas, USA, working on the scientific bases for regulatory application and development of genomics and biomarkers at the FDA. Before he joined the FDA, he was a senior Bioinformatician and the Manager of Bioinformatics Division at Z-Tech, an ICFI company. He held a Research Scientist position at Sumitomo Chemical Company in Japan. He was a visiting scientist at National Cancer Institute (NCI) at National Institutes of Health (NIH). He was also an Associated Professor and the Director of Laboratory of Computational Chemistry at Nanjing University in China. He has published many papers in the area of Pharmacogenomics and recently was invited to write a review on antidepressant Pharmacogenomics as the feature article for Current Pharmacogenomics and Personalized Medicine. He has served as a reviewer of peer reviewed journals in the area of Pharmacogenomics and Pharmacogenetics. He has received several awards and distinctions and has been an invited speaker at several international conferences.

The Pharmacogenomics, Pharmacoproteomics and Pharmacogenetics of Mood-regulating drugs (antidepressants, anticonvulsants, mood stabilizers) and drugs used in the treatment of neuro degenerative disorders. Trying to understand the mechanism of action of these drugs and also investigating novel compounds that may be used in the treatment and /or intervention of mood disorders and neuro degenerative disorders. Katherine Payne is reader in health economics in the Health Sciences Methodology research group, The University of Manchester, UK. Then he joined the faculty at Texas, Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2004. He is board certified in clinical chemistry at American Board of Clinical Chemistry and is a fellow of National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry. He has published 50 research review and book chapter articles since 1997. He has given 100 talks at academia and national and international conferences. He serves on the Editorial Board of therapeutic delivery and PGx Highlights.

Dr. Duconge is Associate Professor in the Pharmaceutical Sciences Department at the University of Puerto Rico School of Pharmacy. He earned his PhD degree at the University of Havana, Cuba. He has teaching experience of more than 13 years in Pharmacokinetics, Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacogenomics. He completed research training in pharmacometrics at Cambridge University, UK and the State University of New York at Buffalo and in pharmacogenomics at Hartford Hospital CT. He is the author of 48 scientific publications including reviews book chapter and articles in peer reviewed journals. He has been awarded with NICHD Grant 5G11HDO46326 and Grant 5P20RR011126 to conduct pharmacogenetic studies in Puerto Ricans. He has served as a reviewer of peer reviewed journals in the area of pharmacokinetics and pharmacogenomics and is an editorial advisory board member of Current Clinical Pharmacology. He is member of the American Association of College of Pharmacy 4 times honored with the Teacher of the Year Award. He also earned the Annual National Prize of Health Sciences Cuban Public Health Services; Best Doctoral Thesis in Pharmaceutical Sciences Cuban National Council of Scientific Degrees and 3 times the Research Achievement Awards University of Havana. His biography was included in the WHO in America 2009 edition.

Current research interest and expertise is in the area of pharmacogenomics and DNA-guided personalized medicine for better understanding the genetic basis of the observed variability in the response to medications, including adverse effects and drug metabolism, in Hispanics with cardio-metabolic disorders and other health conditions with potential disparities of care. He is also focused on conducting translational research to develop novel pharmacogenetic-driven dosing algorithms in Puerto Ricans. In addition, population pharmacokinetics-pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) data analysis and modeling, pharmacokinetics of monoclonal antibodies, kinetic of drug action in disease-state and clinical trial simulation is of interest.

Dr. William Chi-Shing Cho is the principal investigator of oncoproteomics and microRNA projects at the Department of Clinical Oncology in Queen Elizabeth Hospital. His main research interests have been focusing on cancer studies utilizing high-throughput technologies to discover biomarkers for cancer diagnosis, treatment prediction and prognostication. He is a Chartered Scientist granted by the Science Council (UK) and a fellow member of several institutes, including the Institute of Biomedical Science (UK), Hong Kong Institute of Biomedical Science and Hong Kong Society for Molecular Diagnostic Sciences. Dr. Cho has published over 120 papers covering cancer biomarkers, proteomics and microRNAs. He is a renowned scientist and also as an international grant reviewer of the Science Foundation (Ireland), National Medical Research Council (Singapore), Hope Funds for Cancer Research (USA) and Academia Sinica Investigator Award (Taiwan).

Dr. Juan Ding received her B.S. degree from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 2004. She then studied in the Molecular and Cellular Biology program under the supervision of Dr. John Kopchick at Ohio University and received her PhD in 2009. Her PhD dissertation unraveled biomarkers of growth hormone and aging in a series of mouse models that showed excess or disrupted growth hormone signaling. As a Post doctoral Research Associate, Dr. Ding focused on detecting growth hormone doping and discovered novel biomarkers of recombinant human growth hormone administration in healthy human subjects. Dr. Ding has published many original research articles as well as reviews and a book chapter on growth hormone, aging, proteomics and molecular biology. Currently Dr. Ding is working at Schepens Eye Research Institute at Harvard medical school to unravel the endocrine regulation of meibomian gland in dry eye disease.

Dr. Ding is interested in the endocrine regulation of aging and age-related diseases. Her current research focuses on dry eye disease, which affects 3 million Americans and is more prevalent among the elderly. Specifically, Dr. Ding is interested in unraveling the molecular mechanism of the pathophysiology induced by retinoic acid, with the objective of identifying therapeutic targets to treat dry eye disease.

Dr.  Yongping Chen was born in Anhui province, China in 1975. He received his B.S. degree in Anhui medical university (1994-1999). He attended the University of Science and Technology of China from 2002-2007 and got his PhD in nano-biological laboratory of the institute of life science. His doctoral research was mainly focused on drug delivery and cancer treatment. After graduation, he served a postdoctoral fellowship in Department of Chemistry and Biomedical Engineering at University of Washington from 2007-2009. From 2009, he moved to Johns Hopkins University as a postdoctoral fellowship.

He is an Associate Professor and Surgeon in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery in University Sains Malaysia, Malaysia.  He  held a number of professional posts in the national level over the years. He has published and presented in many scientific papers, both at the national and international level. He is also actively involved in services to many international professional communities as invited speakers and presenters. To date, he has organized more than 20 conferences with roles and responsibilities from organizing committee to organizing chairperson. He has contributed significantly to the successes of symposiums and workshops in my University and the Malaysian Society of Otorhinolaryngologists-Head and Neck Surgeons (MSO-HNS) Meetings.

He received his PhD degree in Cell Biology in 2003 from Peking Union Medical School, China. He became a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Pharmacology & Pharmacy at the Hong Kong University. He continued his postdoctoral training in the Department of Microbiology & immunology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, USA. Dr. Yang’s research interests are focused on regulation of angiogenesis and use of targeted drugs/agents/nanoparticlesin cancer and arthritis treatment and diagnosis.
