Parasitology is the study of parasites, their hosts, and the interdependence between them. Being a biological discipline, it forms a synthesis of various other disciplines, and other techniques from fields of cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, genetics, evolution and ecology. In general, the study of prokaryotes comes under the field of Bacteriology rather than parasitology. Many groups of organisms that have a parasitic way of life, such as fungi, bacteria, viruses, are usually included in microbiology, where as parasitology is confined to protozoan and metazoan parasites.

The Journal of Bacteriology & Parasitology under an Open Access category is a peer-reviewed journal, aims to provide the most complete, dependable and undeviating source of information on current developments in the arena of bacteriology & parasitology. The emphasis will be on publishing quality research papers rapidly and to make freely available to researchers worldwide.

JBP is using online manuscript submission, review and tracking systems of quality and quick review processing. Review processing is performed by the editorial board members of JBP or outside experts; at least two independent reviewers approval followed by editor approval is required for acceptance of any citable manuscript.
