Depletion of Tet1 results in loss of embryonic stem cell identity

Tet1 is robustly expressed in mouse embryonic stem cells (mESCs) and has been implicated in mESC maintenance. Unlike genetic deletion, RNAi-mediated depletion of Tet1 in mESCs led to a significant reduction in 5hmC and loss of mESC identity. Tet1 depletion, further supporting the dependence of LIF/Stat3 signaling on Tet1.
Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in the Treatment of Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Here the role of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (SCT) in the treatment of pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is discussed. Allogeneic SCT may be considered for hypodiploid ALL and persistent MRD positivity in ALL in CR1 or greater.
Tracheal reconstruction by mesenchymal stem cells

The aim of this study was to evaluate tracheal reconstruction by monolayered autologous mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) with small intestine submucosa (SIS) in a rabbit model. These results demonstrate that tracheal reconstruction by MSCs with SIS is effective in rabbits with tracheal defects with minimal mortality and morbidity.
Applications of Adipose-derived stem cells

ASCs offer several advantages including an abundant autologous source, minor invasive harvesting, significant proliferative capacity in culture and multi-lineage potential. This review focuses on clinical and pre-clinical data to date using ASCs for soft tissue reconstruction, with particular attention to experimental models and methodologies.
Zebrafish model for understanding Hematopoiesis

Here the contribution of the zebrafish model to the understanding of hematopoiesis, hematopoietic stem cell development, and disease-related discovery is discussed. The recent discovery of small molecules with clinical promise, such as dimethyl prostaglandin E2, 3F8, and thiazole-carboxamide 10A were also discussed.

The Journal of Stem Cell Research and Therapy is the major forum for translational research into stem cell therapies. Stem cells differ from other types of cells as they are unspecialized cells that are capable of changing themselves into almost any type of specialist cells. Stem cells have the ability to replace the diseased and damaged tissue in the body, without the risk of rejection and side effects. Therapy performed using stem cells is termed as “Regenerative medicine” and has many potential benefits in treating a wide variety of diseases and injuries.

The Journal under an Open Access category is comparatively a new model for scholarly journals that provides barrier-free access to full text of all published articles. The Journal explains the special emphasis on basic translational and clinical research into stem cell therapeutics, including animal models and clinical trials.
