Hematopoiesis is defined as the process of production, development and differentiation of different types of blood cells from Hematopoietic stem cells. It occurs normally in the bone marrow in an adult human being. HSCs give rise to myeloid lineage (which forms erythrocytes, eosinophils, basophils, neutrophils, macrophages, mast cells and platelets) and lymphoid lineage (which forms T-lymphocytes, plasma cells and NK cells).
