Biography

Dr. Anne Mantini is a research scientist in the Centre for Urban Health Solutions of St. Michael’s Hospital. She is a professor at the University of Padova in the Social Sciences: Interactions, Communication, Cultural Constructions unit and also lectures in the Psychology Department, Ryerson University and OISE of the University of Toronto. After graduating from the University of Toronto, she completed a fellowship in developmental psychopathology and then spent over 10 years directing program development and implementation science initiatives in the health and mental health field, as well as building equity in health and education programs in Canada and Europe. She has also produced and directed a range of knowledge translation projects from toolkits, to documentary film, to interactive Apps and development of educational software.

Research Interest

Her research program examines the health and mental health of refugees, children and youth, women and individuals with disabilities. In particular, she examines how Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and trauma exposure impact on these communities, its treatment through community intervention and training of healthcare providers. The intersection of individual, family, community, policy factors and developmental influences supporting intersectoral interventions, is central to her research.
