Theodoros I. Roumeliotis

Theodoros I. Roumeliotis Dr Theodoros I. Roumeliotis Senior Scientist in the proteomics and mass spectrometry Welcome Trust Sanger Institute Cambridge, UK
Biography

I obtained my BSc degree in chemistry in 2005 at the University of Athens in Greece, where I also obtained my MSc and PhD degrees in clinical chemistry and protein analysis (2007 and 2011). Then I worked for one year as I post-doc researcher in Bioacademy of Athens. In 2012 I moved to the medicine department of the University of Southampton where I worked in the field of biomarker discovery as a post-doc researcher for two years. From 2014 until now I work as I senior scientist in the proteomics and mass spectrometry group of the Welcome Trust Sanger Institute in Cambridge, UK.

Research Interest

My research focuses on molecular phenotyping of biological systems with natural or induced variation by mass spectrometry based profiling of protein expression and modification. I am interested in the integration of multi-omics technologies to better understand the molecular networks and signalling pathways underlying gene expression regulation in pathological conditions such as cancer and infection. Using proteome-wide associations I aim to assess the impact of genomic alterations on the proteome and to identify causal links between disease genotypes, dysregulated biological processes and cellular phenotypes.
