An integrated circuit is an arrangement of electronic circuits on a chip of semiconductor material which is usually silicon. They are categorized into analog – it covers wide range of logic gates, flip flops, multiplexers other circuits in a few square millimeters. Other types are digital and mixed signal. They work by using binary mathematics to process ‘one’ and ‘zero’ signals. Benefits of integrated circuits include its very small size (hundred folds lesser than the discrete circuit) and its very less weight (as more number of pieces is arranged in a single chip its weight is considerably reduced). These integrated circuits have become indivisible part of many structures as they are widely used in many areas including electronics, computers, mobile phones and other digital home appliances.
