Located in Haridwar, Uttarkhand, Patanjali Yogpeeth is the largest yoga institutes in India founded in the year 2006. It was founded by Mr. Swami Ramdev. Apart from the practice, research and development of yoga, the institute is also actively involved in the manufacture of ayurvedic medicines. The Patanjali Research Foundation is a part of Patanjali Yogpeeth that is involved in the development and research on yoga, preserving and developing new practices based on ancient texts. The main areas of research are: psychophysiological effects of yoga on the human body, therapeutic applications of yoga and implementation and study of ayurvedic medicine. Some of the research centres in Patanjali Yogpeeth are: Centralized Facility for Biochemistry, Haematology, Histopathology and Serology, Centralized Facility for Panchakarma, Centralized Facility for Cardio-respiratory diagnostic services, Centralized Facility for Medical Library and Information and Centralized Facility for Medicinal Herbarium.
